The Brisbane Bullets have signed Max Mackinnon to a two-year deal as the club continues building its roster for the upcoming Hungry Jack’s NBL season. The 22-year-old returns to the club after previously spending the NBL22 season as a development player with the Bullets, who play their home games at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
The signing marks Mackinnon’s return to the organisation where he first spent time as a development player before completing four years in the United States college system. During that period, he played for Elon, Portland and LSU before earning opportunities with the NBL Next Stars team at the 2026 adidas EuroCamp and the Charlotte Hornets at the 2026 NBA Summer League.
As the son of former Brisbane Bullets captain and NBL champion Sam Mackinnon, he returns to Brisbane following several seasons of college basketball in the United States.
Four Years of College Basketball
Standing 6 feet 6 inches tall, Mackinnon completed a four-year collegiate career that began at Elon before continuing at Portland and finishing at LSU.
His senior season at LSU produced career-best scoring numbers. Across 31 appearances for the Tigers, he averaged 15.7 points per game while shooting 37.6 per cent from three-point range. He also averaged 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
Earlier this year, Mackinnon represented the NBL Next Stars team at the 2026 adidas EuroCamp in Italy before joining the Charlotte Hornets at the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.
Back with the Bullets
Mackinnon has agreed to a two-year contract with the Bullets after previously being part of the organisation during the Hungry Jack’s NBL22 season.
He joins a roster featuring Tyrell Harrison, Nate Hinton, Arnas Velička, Jacob Holt, Sam McDaniel, Lat Mayen, Taine Murray, Mitch Norton, Harry Rouhliadeff and Rio Bruton under coach Will Weaver.
The signing adds a player with previous experience in the Bullets program and four seasons in United States college basketball.

The club also promoted the signing on its social media channels, sharing: “Can’t wait to see Max Mackinnon doing this in blue and yellow.”
