Brighton residents are being invited to sit down with police over coffee and help launch an online Neighbourhood Watch group for their community.
The Coffee With A Cop session runs from 10:30am to 11:30am on Sunday 8 November at Luan Café, inside the shopping centre at 353 Beaconsfield Terrace.
Police will be there to answer questions and hear concerns from locals. Organisers describe Brighton as a relaxed bayside suburb and say they want to keep it that way. Residents can turn up with whatever is on their minds.

Part of the morning will go to a conversation about setting up a new online Neighbourhood Watch group for the suburb. Can’t make it on the day? Organisers say residents can still register interest by emailing brightonneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com.
Neighbourhood Watch is a community-run program that operates in partnership with the Queensland Police Service. Neighbourhood Watch Queensland has more information for anyone curious about how groups work with police.
Promotional material for the event also leans on the social side. It encourages locals to come along, have a coffee and get to know the people who live nearby.
